Lucca The farm house is around 50 km from the wonderful town
of Lucca with its completely intact medieval walls that are at least
5 metres high. This beautiful city is really a must-see. |

Lucca is flat and bicycle is an excellent way to explore the town
which is mostly car free.
You can also hire bikes at the tourist information office. |

Must sees
For opera lovers, the composer Puccini
was born in Lucca and it is possible to visit his house and the Pucciniano
museum.
For gardeners the Botanical gardens which date back to the
period of Elisa Bonaparte, make for a pleasant day. The gardens have
a collection of over 2000 species.
For a day at the beach the beaches at Pisa are the nearest,
but the Versilia coast north of Pisa also offers both private
beaches with sun loungers and umbrellas for rent at a reasonable price,
and public beaches.
The medieval towns of San Miniato and Certaldo are delightful
places to spend an afternoon and both offer local cuisine which features
the sumptuous locally grown white truffle. |
